COVER YOUR EARS YOU ALL PEOPLE OUT THERE IN PLANET EARTH! I GOTTA SCREAM!:
"I'M IN LOOOOOOOOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
yes, I'm in love with this book!

and I'm so very pleased that an author that writes a book that has no vampires/werewolves/angels etc and instead has simple human characters can create such an interesting story that puts the biggest grin on my face and makes me dance around my room with taylor swift in the background :P

Series ending. Hearts breaking. Bittersweet 2012.

Now I don't know about you guys, but I'm very sad to see my favorite Young Adult series are ending this next year, 2012.

I feel like I'm saying goodbye to all of my childhood friends. All this series have a very special place in my heart because they are among the very first YA books that ignited the flame that led me to be the HUGE teen-books junkie I am today.

Now let us take a trip down memory lane, and pay a little tribute to those especial series that we have all come to love.

Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins

Ah HH. How can I begin to describe this series?
Much like its author it is full of funniness and southern charm.
The characters are all very well-shaped and they really come to life. I want Sophie to be my BFF, she kicks major butt and is such a teenager! I love teenagers, they can be dramatic but they're a blast to read about!

Wings by Aprilynne Pike

I don't know if there are ay Wings fans here, but I HAD to include it in the list.
Even though the series had been going downfall for me, I still buy every book as soon as it is out. Because in book 1 ---->
I found the story to be fascinating, how different these faeries are, and all the journey Laurel went through with accepting her true nature AND how this book has THE MOST ROMANTIC SCENE I'VE EVER READ.
I'm not kidding, my heart still skips a beat every time I read it.

The Ghost and the Goth by  Stacey Kade

I really love this one. I know this series is not really that famous, but what lacks in fandom it has in awesomeness.
I kid you not, it is funny and sexy and light and has the perfect amount of angst and an intese relatioship that progresses in a very realistic approach. It is everything a teen book should be.

Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins

Technically, it is not a series; but whoever is not sad to see the inter-connecting story of these three lovely girls: Anna, Lola and Isla, is seriously wrong in the head.
Perkins has a way with story-telling, and it certainly helps that her books always have the most amazing settings, her books are captivating and I certainly hope she continues writting amazing books like these 3.

Paranormalcy by Kristen White

Now, I'm not the biggest fan of the this one, but I figured it needed to be recognized aswell, its huge crowd of fans is not for nothing :)
Like I said, it wasn't my cup of tea. But it indeed has formed a culture based on lockers and pink tasers, that takes serious love and decication from White's fans.

I'm sure some series are escaping my mind right now, but I'm too sleepy right now and my brain does not works well on friday nights (which is my free night, which I usually spend sleeping)

But I really want to dedicate this post to all of those series that leave us this next year. The departure of our favorite characters and the inevitable end to their adventures is bittersweet. The good thing about book though?
You can revive all those good times with a short trip to your bookcase.

Review: Lola and The Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins

Things I loved:
  • Cricket. I liked him from the first moment I read him, and I know exactly why... because he reminds me of my beloved Dexter from Sarah Dessen's This Lullaby. Cricket's like Dexter long lost twin (yes, Cricket has 2 twins haha), they are both tall and have crazy hair and the same animated, cheerful and extremely charming personality that makes it impossible NOT to love them.
  •
  • The setting. I've never been to San Francisco but Perkin's obvious love for it was contagious.
  •

  • The childhood flashbacks. Those stories were the cutest! I loooooooved the one about the elevator! *wink*
  • The romance. It may have driven me crazy sometimes, but the chemistry and most of all, Cricket's love for Lola, was undeniable.
  •
  • Calliope. I understood where she was coming from and why she was so interested in letting Lola know that she was not doing the right thing leading Cricket on. Her interest was saving her brother from heartbreak, and don't we all want to save our brothers from that? (:
  •
  • Anna and Etienne. Awww, lovely surprise! they're the best! <3
  •
Things I didn't like:
  • The parentals. I mean I get they want to pretect their daughter but really?! did they have to be so rude? It's not like Lola is a saint so why blame only Cricket (or Max for the matter). And they really should have said something to Lola before all the mess exploded, they saw what was happening between her and Cricket and they knew she was with Max, I bet my parents would have sat with me and made me come to my senses.
  •
  • Lola's dilemma. If she had a fresh personality, I could have not cared less. Most of the time her selfishness bugged me to infinity and beyond. Maybe because she was young (17)? maybe because she was in love with the jerk (Max)? but I simply didn't get her choices.
  •
  • Lola's  lack of relationship with her mom. I hated the way she treated her mom, it only made her look selfish and childish. I thought with the costumes and all that she didn't care what people thought of her? her actions told me otherwise.
  •
Things I didn't care about:
  • Lola's style.
  • The Marie Antoniette gown.
  • The anti-hobos trauma.
  • The best friend's obsession with Nancy Whats-her-name.
  •
Isn't he super cute? aww hahaha

Things I'm excited about:
  • The revelation of the conection with Isla's story. [*SPOILER AHEAD*] I was ecstatic to see they're going to France for the Olympics! YAY! I've always liked Isla, she's quiet and serene and shy but she stood up for Anna who she didn't even know that well, and my heart bursts with love for her. And Josh! oh please don't get me started with Josh! he was my favorite character from Anna and the French Kiss and I can't friggin wait for his story! <3.
In conclusion:
